Do I send you my tools?Sending tools is not usually necessary. Simply download and print pages from our tool outline catalogs. Place your tools over the printed pages to find outlines that match. We'll make you a custom organizer by combining the outlines you've selected. Can you cut an organizer from my CAD file?Yes. Customers who prefer to create their own drawings using a computer program can certainly do so. We can work from a variety of file types from most popular CAD programs. Do you sell foam that I can cut myself?Yes. Please see our tool foam blanks page for details and cutting instructions. How do I pick outlines that will fit my tools? Most of our catalogs have an index on the first page that gives some suggestions about what tools will fit the various outlines. The key though, is to print the catalog pages full scale and place your tools on top of the paper to see how they fit. How do I know the catalog pages printed at the right scale? The catalog pages have a border that is 7.5 inches by 10 inches, and the border has marks every inch or half inch so you can verify the scale. Printing pages to scale usually involves selecting "none" under page scaling. How much space should I allow around my tools? For best results we recommend 0.010 to 0.030 inches of clearance around polished tools like sockets. For large tools like wrenches we recommend 0.030 to 0.125 inches of clearance. It's okay to have more space around portions of the tool. Trying to get a uniform 0.030-inch gap around the tool is unnecessary. If it's hard to tell whether there is a gap, try using a small machinist's square to see where the edge of the tool is relative to the line on the paper. Can I have multiples of the same cutout on my organizer?Yes. Just enter the cutout number on the design form as many times as you need it. How much do you charge for designing a foam organizer? We don't usually charge fees for our design work. We hope you'll place orders for the designs you request, but you are under no obligation to make a purchase. How many organizers must I order? We don't charge a setup fee and are happy to make a single copy of each organizer we design. We can make multiple copies of a design if that's what you need (we've never had an order that was too small or too big). How much does it cost? Our pricing is based on the size of the foam organizer. See our current pricing which is available for your convenience. How long does it take?Allow a few days for us to create a drawing for your organizer once you submit a design request. Also figure on a few days for fabrication after you place an order. The exact amount of time depends on how busy we are. Feel free to send us an email to check the status of your request. What do you charge for shipping? We offer free shipping to the 48 contiguous states. Residents of Alaska and Hawaii can email their zip code for a shipping estimate. How do I check my organizer drawing before I place an order? We send you a PDF drawing by email so you can make sure everything looks good. We strongly recommend that you print this drawing full scale and lay your tools over the paper to make sure everything fits well. The PDF we send includes a full view suitable for printing on a large format printer or plotter. It also includes pages that can be printed on standard letter-sized paper. These pages then can be taped together to make one large full-scale drawing. How do I check the status of my order? The best way to check on a design or an order is to send us an email. What should I do if a tool doesn't fit? There are several ways to make adjustments. You can trim excess foam away using a sharp knife. You can also use a carbide burr in a rotary tool (like a Dremel). Please let us know if you are having any issues. |
